Bring it around town...but really around the Midwest

That title is stolen from a Spongebob episode...which of course I have seen since its one of Eric's fav shows.

Yup. Moving on, after Indy I had a the weekend & one day of work at CSH before hopping on that plane to Cleveland...really Chicago-Midway & then Cleveland. I made observations about flying/myself.

1. I liked flying!
2. Security makes me feel like by contact solution might really be a bomb & I don't even know it.
3. I like chill time in between flights to eat, get mocha frappes from McD, call my peeps, & people watch.
4. Some people carry their children in luggage style thingys...& the kids don't look amused.
I didn't take this one, I stole from google images...

update: I did take this picture! >>

5. I made a friend on the Cleveland to Chicago flight home...I felt the urge to get his email so I could know what happens to my new friend (he was interviewing for stuff too), but I held back.
6. Said new friend from California answered a lifelong question of mine. What do you think of when you hear Kentucky? His answer, "sorry, but redneck." I tried to educate him on other Ky things, but he already knew about them...this shows the overwhelming power of our redneck stereotype!
C'mon people, put some shoes on & ditch the overalls :)
7. I really like the window seat.
8. I'm not scared of flying.
9. I love getting free peanuts & drinks.
10. I love being picked up at the airport by my boo thang & knowing, this is home.

Flying high

No I won't be high on drugs tomorrow when I fly, but probably on adrenaline! I have not flown since my senior spring break & let's just say the flight home is not in my memory. So, tomorrow will be interesting. I have been briefed on where to go & what to do, but I'm a little scared of my nerves during flight. I am not a fan of heights & enclosed spaces. Oh well, here goes some exposure therapy! All this to fly to Cleveland, where I won't even be interviewed. Apparently they got all they need to know about us from our applications. So, I'm hikin it up there to see their place with 40 other applicants (x 3 days = 120 people). Crazy shiz.

Indianapolis

So today I had my 1st interview. I'll give you the full story & then a picture montage.

So, my sweet baby sister Rachael and I drove up on Thursday. We decided to bring the DSM (google it) to take pictures with. We drove by our hotel & it scared us because it looked like a parking garage. We got to Indy a little early to check in so we went to the mall. I walked through the mall with my luggage so I could change in a bathroom. Then, we went to find lunch. We picked up grub at the food court. There was a glass overhang thing that floats above the street. We ate there and watched a live band. There was a "security" guy by us. Not sure if he really worked for the mall but he had a badge. He watched the videos of the band immediately after they finished playing.

Next, we walked the mall. We saw real security on a segways, so I'm guessing weirdo with a badge wasn't mall employed. We window shopped like 50 cent. We decided to leave & were stopped by some more interesting people who we think wanted us to help them find salvia...yeah. we get to the hotel & our buddy Donnie checked us in to the parking garage & told us places to check out in Indy. We get to the room (which was actually nice) can't find Dede (DSM). Rachael left her at the front desk. She called Donnie and he said he would read it til we came down.

We decided to hit up the Children's Museum of Indianapolis because it was free that day we heard it was cool. It was COOL and crowded. Fun times bein kiddish with Rae & people watching. One kid said to Rae "I'm not your kid!" I guess we looked creepy? His parents didn't even say anything. Sooooo, we were leaving this museum full of people who come on the free day & Rae says "where's my phone????" Lost! We went back and searched! Gone! Luckily, a Good Samaritan turned it in to the front desk! Crisis averted, but Rae is not in charge of holding onto important things (remind me not to let her hold my newborn).

Ok. Fast forward, we ate Arbys (maybe saw a drug deal?) & headed back to La Quinta. Studied internship whiz. Sleep...night time snuggled Rae & yelled at her to turn on the heater? Woke up SUPER nervous. Bright side breakfast. Made it to interview. I'll make notes to talk about how that went after the match process. :) It was nice though. Glad interview 1 is over! Then! I came home to flowers from the boothang.

CARDS vs cats

Today is the rivalry game & new years eve. Having been raised in Louisville, attending school at UofL, having a cheerleading practices in high school at the same place that the cards cheer & dance practices, &  working at Cardinal Hall of Fame = Patti the cards fan. However, I will admit, when I was really young, I wanted to be a cats fan! What?! That's like treason! My Nanny is a fan of the blue, so I wanted to be like her. Thankfully I found my way back home to the red side. And now I have so much black & red clothing its ridiculous.

Moving on to the new year...2012! I can't believe its here! I will be getting married, moving somewhere for internship, & taking my last classes EVER!! (couples therapy & multicultural II) this has been a long time coming & now its actually happening. I feel like I'm in a dream. Still a lot to do & its very stressful, but my goals are being reached. Now if I could just force myself to get out of bed & get some shit done today, maybe I'll check things off the to do list :)

P.S. New Years Resolution = working out or physical activity 3 times a week. That's reasonable. Plus, I want to spend nichole times with my nieces before I move!

Chiristmas time!

Christmas is quickly approaching. I am happy to have such a family filled weekend and get some quality time with my boo thang too! I have been picking up Christmas presents here and there, but I still don't have Eric's big gift...I'll be taking him shopping for that. Also trying to preapre for internship interviews...booked a flight to Cleveland and a car, hotel in Indy, and still need to get a hotel in Tuscaloosa! Luckily, I am bargain hunting, so I don't think the process will be too pricey. I was so excited yesterday because my bag for interviews finally came in and I LOVE it!
I got it in Gunmetal. It has tons of pockets and the inside is light colored material so it won't be superhard to find stuff. That's all my rambling for now. PEACE

The drought is over

On Friday, I got another no. Then, later in the day when my hope was dwindling for a worry-free weekend, I got an email from St. Louis. I said a little prayer before opening the email like always and it was a YES!! I called & texted people frantically. My mom, sister, & step-dad came by to congratulate me...they surprised me. I am super duper happy. One interview isn't a lot but it seems like so much more after 5 rejections. Went out to eat with my OMOS girls on Friday & we decided our February get-together was gonna be to see New Edition and K-Ci & JoJo :)
I am really hoping we get to see Bobby like that ^^ rather than like this....
But who am I kidding, I will watch Bobby Brown entertain even if he is a mess. That's part of his appeal.

I need to vent for a minute

Let me tell you a little story. This girl is smart. She goes to college and decides she wants to figure out a career to make her happy...she chooses psychology because it is interesting. She likes to help people (but doesn't have the balls to be a nurse) so she decides that a PsyD would be nice since that is more clinical than a PhD

...fastforward through 8 years of hard work & procrastination & late nights. A few things lie in the path to get the dang degree. One is called internhip. You have to apply to places. Then you wait to see IF you get an interwiew. Then you go on interviews (and pay $$ to get there, have a suit, get a hotel, blah blah blah)...THEN you rank where you want to go & they rank who they want and MAYBE you get matched somewhere. That's a maybe because in 2011, 21% of people did NOT match...the had to wait another year and do it again! SO, if you guessed, I am that dumb girl. I chose this dumb career that I love when I could have gotten a different degree and been making $$ now and not have to move away...

So my current status is that I have gotten 4 NOs for interviews. No YESs. That is really sucky. I still have 11 more sites to hear from, but it blows chunks that I have to wait...wait...wait...check email incessantly...OH THERE'S AN EMAIL FROM A SITE!!!...Oh they don't want to email me (We regret to inform you...) & then wait...

You get the picture.

URGH *@*%#?!!! I mean sorry for the negativity when I have been tyring to be positive, but for real that's how it is...SO I've told myself to get over it and not think about what my standing is until I hear back from the rest of the sites I applied to. SCHNIKES
