CARDS vs cats

Today is the rivalry game & new years eve. Having been raised in Louisville, attending school at UofL, having a cheerleading practices in high school at the same place that the cards cheer & dance practices, &  working at Cardinal Hall of Fame = Patti the cards fan. However, I will admit, when I was really young, I wanted to be a cats fan! What?! That's like treason! My Nanny is a fan of the blue, so I wanted to be like her. Thankfully I found my way back home to the red side. And now I have so much black & red clothing its ridiculous.

Moving on to the new year...2012! I can't believe its here! I will be getting married, moving somewhere for internship, & taking my last classes EVER!! (couples therapy & multicultural II) this has been a long time coming & now its actually happening. I feel like I'm in a dream. Still a lot to do & its very stressful, but my goals are being reached. Now if I could just force myself to get out of bed & get some shit done today, maybe I'll check things off the to do list :)

P.S. New Years Resolution = working out or physical activity 3 times a week. That's reasonable. Plus, I want to spend nichole times with my nieces before I move!

Chiristmas time!

Christmas is quickly approaching. I am happy to have such a family filled weekend and get some quality time with my boo thang too! I have been picking up Christmas presents here and there, but I still don't have Eric's big gift...I'll be taking him shopping for that. Also trying to preapre for internship interviews...booked a flight to Cleveland and a car, hotel in Indy, and still need to get a hotel in Tuscaloosa! Luckily, I am bargain hunting, so I don't think the process will be too pricey. I was so excited yesterday because my bag for interviews finally came in and I LOVE it!
I got it in Gunmetal. It has tons of pockets and the inside is light colored material so it won't be superhard to find stuff. That's all my rambling for now. PEACE

The drought is over

On Friday, I got another no. Then, later in the day when my hope was dwindling for a worry-free weekend, I got an email from St. Louis. I said a little prayer before opening the email like always and it was a YES!! I called & texted people frantically. My mom, sister, & step-dad came by to congratulate me...they surprised me. I am super duper happy. One interview isn't a lot but it seems like so much more after 5 rejections. Went out to eat with my OMOS girls on Friday & we decided our February get-together was gonna be to see New Edition and K-Ci & JoJo :)
I am really hoping we get to see Bobby like that ^^ rather than like this....
But who am I kidding, I will watch Bobby Brown entertain even if he is a mess. That's part of his appeal.

I need to vent for a minute

Let me tell you a little story. This girl is smart. She goes to college and decides she wants to figure out a career to make her happy...she chooses psychology because it is interesting. She likes to help people (but doesn't have the balls to be a nurse) so she decides that a PsyD would be nice since that is more clinical than a PhD

...fastforward through 8 years of hard work & procrastination & late nights. A few things lie in the path to get the dang degree. One is called internhip. You have to apply to places. Then you wait to see IF you get an interwiew. Then you go on interviews (and pay $$ to get there, have a suit, get a hotel, blah blah blah)...THEN you rank where you want to go & they rank who they want and MAYBE you get matched somewhere. That's a maybe because in 2011, 21% of people did NOT match...the had to wait another year and do it again! SO, if you guessed, I am that dumb girl. I chose this dumb career that I love when I could have gotten a different degree and been making $$ now and not have to move away...

So my current status is that I have gotten 4 NOs for interviews. No YESs. That is really sucky. I still have 11 more sites to hear from, but it blows chunks that I have to wait...wait...wait...check email incessantly...OH THERE'S AN EMAIL FROM A SITE!!!...Oh they don't want to email me (We regret to inform you...) & then wait...

You get the picture.

URGH *@*%#?!!! I mean sorry for the negativity when I have been tyring to be positive, but for real that's how it is...SO I've told myself to get over it and not think about what my standing is until I hear back from the rest of the sites I applied to. SCHNIKES

Thank you for the stuffing

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I am so happy.stuffing is my favorite thanksgiving day food and I don't know why I don't really ever eat throughout the rest of the year. Maybe that's why I love it...

Ava spent the night last night. She informed me that pajamas are NOT "jammies" they are "jamas." She bosses me around, telling me to do what she does, then No! Don't do what I do! We looked at pictures on my Facebook from when she was a baby. She kept saying, "I don't want you to hold me!" Of course she didn't understand that when she was 2 months old someone had to hold her. She's really a goofy gal...then came bedtime. As we had been playin and reading books, she kept saying, "jamas want my mom" and "when is my mom going to pick me up?" This was her first night at my house and I probably should have had another sister for comfort. I didn't even tell her it was bedtime, but when I turned off the TV, all help broke loose. She wailed, " I WANT MY MOM!" It was sad, but cute. Eventually she fell asleep, and proceeded to flail, kick, and push herself right up against me...I was sandwiched between her and Eric in a full size bed! This morning she picked out my work clothes and bosses me around some more, telling me what I was and was not allowed to help her with.

This was deinitely a fun night...tomorrow morning mass at 7am! Sheesh! But great family time :)

Wedding

With less than 6 months til the wedding, I am a plannin fool. At least in my head. I have lots of ideas about what I'm going to do. :) I have decided on these "convertible" wrap dresses for my bridesmaids in gray. We will see what they are like when I get the sample. It looks pretty cool, but its like you wrap these straps around to make the top of the dress different styles. I need to find a caterer but its truckin expensive to feed people! I need a good friend that isn't a great friend (or they would be in the wedding) that could make food for 350+ people...that would be sweet. Also, I am stumped as to what my wedding band will be since the engagement ring is pretty sweet...maybe a simple band?
In other news I have 12 of my 15 applications sent in. I feel like the suspense of interview vs no interview is crazy. But also exciting. By December 15 ish I will at least have the options narrowed down some. Hopefully to cool sites and cities. Well that's all the update I can do for now since I'm subbing for bunco, but I promise I won't leave the blog so lonely. Holla!

I'm so excited. I'm so excited. I'm so...scared!

Ok, that was what popped into my mind when I thought about exercise. Jesse Spano on diet pills...I have been taking my own swirl into the world of fitness lately. I have a gym membership with my sisters but, of course, were not going. So, I have taken it into my own hands by making up a mish mosh of fitness routines. One day I copied some Zumba moves from a youtube video. Another day I did a bunch of squats, lunges, pushups, and planks from a list I found by googling. My favorite has been to turn on some really fast techno and just try to keep up with the pace of the music...I'm really glad no one has seen me doing this because I'm sure I look like I'm having convulsions :) But at least I'm moving I guess.
In other news, I'm a bad blogger because I have been ferociously writing essays and other internship stuff...sometimes falling into the trap of reading other peoples stuff and feeling like mine is crap and I won't get an internship. Trying to avoid that. I enjoy shopping for my internship outfits much better than writing cover letters!

So, I really wrote that ^^ last week and then never posted it somehow...now I will post it plus add on some.

Update on the internship stuff. I have applied to Birmingham, Nashville, Dayton, and Little Rock...then realized there was a mistake on my APPI which can't be changed. It also can't be changed for any of the other applications I have to send out because once you do one you're stuck. SO, I've decided worrying about it would be useless. I am forcing optimism that I will get intrviews and at least 1 site will want me as their intern and I will get my degree. schnikes. I thought this was so far off for so long and now its happening.

Lazy Sunday

I visited my Mom's house yesterday. It was full of my girls. 2 sisters, Mom, & 4 nieces. It got a little cray cray. We were trying on some clothes that somebody gave to my Mom. A bunch of jeans and tops. Let's just say we made some really cute outfits. Todd & Eric probably thought we were smokin crack in the bathroom. Then I went to JJ's to swap some work shirts to change up our wardrobe. The girls discovered the distortion feature on my camera. See below. They got a hold of the crack we were smokin. Ava was brushin JJ's hair, through the curls. Savannah was "massaging" Rae. Katie singing at the top of her lungs, and Lily saying "can I play your phone? BUT Savannah got to!!" The whole time I'm frantically trying to dodge the cat I'm allergic to. This doesn't sound lazy, but it was just what I needed. My family seriously drives me insane but I think its because I'm one of them...we are all high on life.

Proposed

I never thought I would have two proposals in my lifetime. The one in April was good enough for me. But I must say, having proposed my dissertation SUCCESSFULLY :) I am pretty happy. I am so ready to focus on internship essays now. This type of writing is way easier for me and more interesting. I celebrated by going to Dairy Del with Eric, visiting my nieces, and finishing my book, The Help. Awesome relaxing day. I also spent the morning doing our Save the Date pictures...I will post when it is done. Eric's cousin Kevin is aphotography major and shot us in front of the church where we will get married. It was fun being goofy with Eric and coming up the poses.

Plan for the next month = internship essays and applications!

Confused

I saw a pretty awesome speaker this week. One of the topics discussed was the structure of our justice system. He thought it was arbitrary...I kind of agree. When it comes to the sentence someone gets, or even whether they get charged, a lot is based on the officer, judge, state that it happens in etc. Drug charges seem to bring hefty sentencing, but then when true moral wrongs occur , like murder, it may not matter what happened, but what can be proven by a lawyer. When it comes to the death penalty, it really made me think, should we be judged by the worst thing we ever did in our lives? Yes, I think we should be punished, but is it our justice systems right to give the life/death call? I don't know the solutions or how our system could really be based on a moral code (when everyone seems to disagree on ethics & morality) but it would be nice to think that the laws and justice system were actually making changes to our society...I guess it takes changes in the society to change how we see justice.

Status change: No longer a server

Last night was my last shift at Hall of Fame. I am hoping I have enough money for the wedding without working there, but it felt so good to think, "I don't have to roll silver ever again!" We'll see if I ever pick up a shift or something, but at least I have a few more hours a week to devote to dissertation. Now I just have to make sure I actually do that. Proposal is next week, and I can't lie, I am NERVOUS! I really feel like my 2nd reader is going to rip it to shreds. Hopefully not.Maybe my chair will take up for me?

Ordered my bridesmaid bouquets last night and I am pretty happy with the computer picture of them...I'll have to see what they look like in person. Eric & I worked on our posters we are going to use in our Save the Date pictures (hopefully this weekend)...I loved doin this little artsy thing with him. He was actually more into it than I thought. I had to restrain my perfectionist self and make sure I didn't just take over everything. We talked about the wedding and what he wanted as far as a say in the decorations, etc. It was a nice lil couple day :)

Busy weekend ahead. My friend Kelly's getting married and that should be fun. Her and her fiance are me & Eric's wedding buddies at all the weddings we have gone to over the last year. Scott likes to yell out during the speeches and always cracks us up. Kelly and I end up people watching. Pauly D is at 4th Street that night, so we'll see if we end up there after the reception. Saturday is the Schnitzelburg Walk...should be entertaining. Weather pending, we might do our pics for Save the Dates on Sunday...I told Eric we can't be hungover for this and he'll need a haircut. I bet this haircut happens Sunday morning and hopefully he doesn't look ill. Back to work at CSH...fun times

"Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.”

Trust. This simple word can be very important in many ways.

Definition: reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing.

You might have a trust, like money...and I would say you are lucky!

Trust might be applied to the ones you love...having confidence that they will follow through with the promises they have made. This type of trust is improtant because you need it in order to put your whole heart into realtionships.

The type of trust I want to talk about is trust in yourself. I have heard that you usually know more than you think you know. I find myself time and again thinking "what an idiot!" Example. 2 nights ago I talked with my friend while I sat in my car...car off, but keys in...battery died and Eric had to save me. With this whole school thing, you are almost beaten with self-doubt that you cannot do these things they ask of you. One thing piling on after another. I have found myself thinking I don't need to worry about internship stuff because if I don't propose my dissertation on time, it won't matter anyways...as if I won't be proposing on time. If my brain would wake up and slap my low self-confidence, I would see that I can and WILL propose on time. It might even be a crappy proposal, but I did NOT push myself through school on the so-called "suicide track" to now take a year longer. So, that is my blurb on trust. I think it is important in a lot of ways. And more is better. But its hard to do when you have been burned.
On to updating. I love CSH...hands down. I love it. My day flies by because I am SO busy with interesting cases. And its not so scary.

By the way...if anyone reads this that is NOT one of my 3 followers (shout out to Dad, Conni Jo, and Amanda!!) you should follow me...and my friends! I have a list of blogs that I read on the side of the page. Conni Jo and Amanda are both hilarious and I promise their blogs do not disappoint...I also have someother fun ones on there if you are into design, being cheap, weddings, and other randomness.

My mind babies

No I don't want a baby right now...I have to finish school and I think if I got pregnant today, I would be HUGE in May. I really want to wear the wedding dress I already picked out. But that doesn't mean I can't think of what it will be like when I do have aa lil squirmy person. I really picture what my babies might look like and it makes me grin.

This is a baby picture of Eric...I just think he's frickin adorable.

This is my niece Ava...I mean seriously?! I want to squeeze her cheeks.

So by my prediction, my children may be a combo of these factors (some from me and some from Eric...guess which)
Dimples...Scars
Blonde hair...brown hair
Blue eyes...hazel eyes
Uncoordinated...great at every sport
Prissy girl...rowdy boy
Tall & lanky...broad & muscley?
Sassy pants...sweet kidlet

What a crazy mixed up kid this would be if it cross-pollinated into some mutant who was all of these things in one o_O

Or maybe my kid will randomly be none of these things and come out with red hair, freckles, and brown eyes. Now wouldn't that be tough to explain ;)

Feeling good, feeling great

That's a reference to Big Boi's "Ghetto Musick" from Speakerboxx, in case you didn't know. You have to know how they sing it to really know how to read the title (go listen!) But guess what, I am feeling good and feeling great...some reasons why

1. Started going to a ghetto ass gym with my sisters 3x/week. The owner "Fred" tells me in a twangy accent, "We're (who's we??) gonna get you in the best shape of your life!!" Ok, Fred. Beat the second I was born and had no exposure to illness or drugs and I will believe you. But anyways, I have been feeling pretty good after workin it out with the Reitz girls. Especially when we left the gym and headed to Tumbleweed for Margarita Mondays last night. :)

2. I started at the inpatient psychiatric hospital...I was a little scared at first, but now I really am loving it. I have an awesome supervisor. She is an older woman who cusses, so right off the bat I want to be like her. She also really genuinely cares about people and is straigh-up with you instead of beating around the bush...my kind of lady. The patients here are so interesting too and not as scary as one might think. I have enjoyed my first week and already learned a whole bunch of useful info.

3. I am stressed about dissertation, but slowly making progress. I still feel behind, but I also feel like I WILL get it done. That is way better than the feelings that I had before that "I am crap" and "I am lazy" because I wasn't where I wanted to be with it. So, yeah, doing better.

4. Overall, just in a good mood about life. Having good thoughts about the wedding I am going to in May...still not realizing it is my own. Not as super jazzed about planning as I thought I would be. I like coming up with ideas, but the whole "paying for the shit I would need" isn't the best part...so as of now, I have decided to forego (sp?) thinking of wedding planning until my money comes in (loans and getting paid for prac + selling house)...That way I can actually have the dough I need to get the stuff to use for the nuptuals...

5. Pretty happy with the fiance too. He has been really nice the past couple of days. This includes getting up to get me something when I am sitting ont he couch and he didn't have any other reason to get up. How sweet! (Because I am a lazy bum and don't do that for him half the time)

Adventures in D.C.

Just now waking up from the drive home from D.C. Yes, I said drive! Urgh. Next time were definitely flying. I hate West Virginia and their mountains. All I could think of was "the hills have eyes" I double and triple checked that the doors were locked the whole way thru the creepy little towns. I also hate the Phoenix Park hotel. I would have appreciated a warning that I was staying in a "historic" hotel. That basically means old crappy and expensive.
On to things I DON'T hate. I loved riding bikes with the boo across the Mall to see all the monuments. Felt like a little kid. Loved riding the trains in D.C. However, it was a little uncomfortable when a psychotic/drunk man took everyones attention on the nighttime train. But still memorable.
Oh yeah, and I presented at APA. That was ok...but I definitely enjoyed the lil trip with my man more than the academic part!

Cafeteria lunch

This has been a long love affair for me. I loved turkey and gravy with mashed potatoes in grade school. I was quoted in my high school year book as "loving all school lunches, but particularly chicken nuggets and buttered noodles." I was psyched to get school lunch in P2 at SMM...and now CS has topped them all. I get $1 lunches! Cafeteria style with drink included. I think I might just have to eat every meal there. This sums up what I learned today at Central State. Also, I learned how to open and close doors which is much more serious business in a psychiatric facility! I will update more tomorrow...HOLLA BALLAS!

Sunday, July 31, 2011

send me to the nuthouse!

So tomorrow I am starting at Central State. I have mixed excitement and nervousness...
1. Excited to work with different populations
2. Excited to meet new people
3. Nervous that new people will be weird/mean/annoying and I will have to work with them for a year
4. Nervous that this environment is a little more intense than primary care...like good and bad intense
5. Excited to learn new things and potentially help people
6. Not excited about waking up early & driving across town...booooo
7. Nervous about needing to learn defense techniques...I'm a lover not a fighter

So basically I'm a ball of thoughts about what is to come. I'm feeling good and ready to take this on. I find it cute that Eric is a little worried about me working out there :)

Psychopharmacology

That sounds fun doesn't it? The past hour and a half has been a blur...still have 40 more minutes. I have listened to all I can about voltage sensitive ion channels and atypical antipsychotics. It does not help that my teacher's voice is perfect for hypnotism. Trying to distract myself for this long let's my mind wander aimlessly. I think all the thoughts that I didn't have time for throughout the day. I think about the wedding, internship, and moving. This all seems so far off because I have to get past presenting at APA, proposing dissertation, class shiz, etc. I like to think in slow motion. No rush. Just daydreaming. My professor drones about serotonin blockades and corticocortical circuits and I just daze...and nod every once in a while. This is almost a form of meditation...sweet. la ti da. Still bored 5 minutes later...

Ch-ch-changes

Changes are coming and I cant wait.look at that pathetic work shoe...its flopping around when I walk. not too much longer and I will be out of the Cardinal Hall of Fame FOREVER! Woot woot. This is my last week at VA though and that is sad. Really wanna get my supervisors a nice parting gift cause they were totally kick ass. Thats all for now cause I'm supposed to be waiting on people...

Tight Pants

Obviously, this man knows where to find well fitting clothing. This has been a long battle with me, since I have mile long legs and I'm thin...some would say lanky. I have found the stores that sell long pants and these are the ONLY places from which I buy pants. Well, recently I have been putting my pants on for work or jeans when going out and thinking, "Why did I buy such tight pants?" I thought in my barhopping days I must have liked the tighter pants. These were uncomfortably tight...I even bought 2 suits to wear for my internship interviews and got a different cut of pants that were wider leg...but in the same size I always get 2LONG. Well, as I was wondering about this tight pants situation yesterday, I decided to weigh myself. I don't do this often. Mainly, because my weight never changes. I have been within a 5lb range for about the past 8 years. Well come to find out I gained 10 lbs! I have tried to do this before as I didn't want to be "lanky Patti" and have people tell me I look "too thin" or need " meat on my bones"...I get it people, but sorry my body was built this way. As happy as I am to have finally gained a little weight, I am slightly pissed because I have spent years compiling a wardrobe of now too tight pants. Not sure what to do with this dilemma. Today I have left my work pants unclasped and worn a belt :)

Why I love testing kids

Really I just love kids in general. They say the funniest things (someone should make a show about that?!) Case in point. A boy told me yesterday, "its every man's duty in life to kill and eat at least one frog." Apparently Bear Grylls is inspiring children. I also had a great conversation with my nieces Monday about their favorite songs. Savannah said, "right now, or all time? When I was little I liked the Bananas song (Hollaback Girl) but now I like Tonight Tonight?? She's 8 and already is "not little" :(

Looking over the fence

As I said, I have decided to get myself out of this funk that I'm in. I am hoping that the change in schedule that comes with switching practicum, quitting Raskin's & Hall of Fame, and starting new stuff will help jump start me. I have had an "a-ha" moment as Oprah says. I recently received some documents from people to get ready for internship applying. Graduates of my program sent me some of their CVs and essays they used to apply. I found myself comparing my "stuff" to their "stuff." Why did they have SO much more and cooler research (because they had an awesome Health Emphasis Area Director???). Why did they have way more publications than my ZERO? And how the heck am I going to apply to Veteran's Administration (VA) hospitals with my wimpy CV and crappy research background? I am overexaggeratin my suckiness, but thats what it felt like. I decided that I need to stop comparing myself with other people. Maybe I look awesome when some other people compare their CV to mine. I don't know. I mean people apply from across the country. Anyways, I am trying to gett all my shiz together to get this ball rollin. House is getting appraised Monday, meeting with Dr. Bliss to discuss internship jazz Tuesday, giving Dr. Katsikas my draft of Ch1 for dissertation Wednesday! Wa Wa We Wa

Thankful

I have recently been very into reading blogs. This helps me to procrastinate. I came across a post on Moneysavingmom.com from a woman discussing how lucky she was that she had saved her money because when her child dies tragically, she was able to NOT worry about the money she was spending for a few months. I went to this womans blog. It was very sad. She had blogged before about her family in the day to day, and then in Dec 2010, there was a post about her son's death. Don't read this if you don't want to cry. This made me think back. Her son was injured when a dresser fell on him. My niece Lily had the same thing happen a few years back. She had a hile in her cheek and had to have stiches. It was very scary, but when I read something like this story, it makes me feel so thankful that I have my little girls in my life. I love my nieces so much and could not imagine the pain this lady has. Lily is such a sweet, loving, funny girl. Even when she whines and tattletales. I can't even think about what my life would be like had something more serious happened. SO, this post is to remind myself to be thankful for having children in my life that make me smile and give me kisses. And, in Savannah's case, tell me if my hair looks bad or my outfit is not stylin.

Graduate school-induced Depression

I had an interesting conversation yesterday. I was chatting with my friend Coco. We were talking about school, as usual, and she remarked that she had been talking earlier with our friend Gingey about the possibility that we are all mildly depressed. I laughed. But I also thought. THIS IS TRUE! You think this is crazy, but for the last few months I have noticed changes. I will show you what I mean.
1. I want to sleep ALL THE TIME.
2. Feeling tired even when I get enough sleep.
3. Less interest to do the things I like to do.
4. Feeling guilty about my lack of productivity at school stuff. (especially if I let myself do something fun/lazy)
5. Inability to focus/concentrate when trying to be productive at school crap.

So look up the symptoms for depression...they fall right in line. I am not saying I have severe depression and I wouldn't compare how I feel to that at all. But mild. Yes. I htink this is all being caused by the pressure to finish a bunch of big ticket school crap, a dwindling motivation, and the guilt that I put on myself any time I do something fun. At the end of the week, I usually just want to lay on my couch. I don't feel like hanging out with anyone. That ain't me! So anyways. I could explain this more. Some might read this (out of my 2 followers) and htink I am being stupid. I am planning to figure out how to reverse this chronic crap mood I've been in. I'll updatemore about that plan. I gotta hurry up and get off here. Library is calling my name to spend hours working on dissertation. I am behind on my research owrk for my RIG. I have to get 3 posters together to present at APA in 2 weeks. Oh, and then there's my actual classwork. (Psychopharmacology)...maybe I'll find time to sell our house, plan a wedding, and eat later today.

My rant is over.

Wrap it up!

This picture is funny to me because I recently watch the new Hulk. Moving on. I am wrapping up with my clients and EXCITED to get started at Central State. I end at VA July 29th...Orientation for CS August 1 & 2...not much of a break, but I am ready to get this P4 year going! I am presenting at APA on August 4-5 in Washington DC. Pretty pumped to visit DC for the first time and hopefully get to see the Holocaust museum. I am wondering if APA will be boring or actually kinda cool. My nerdy self is hoping that I just love it.
My newest favorite thing in Sonic. I love that I can get hot dogs, cherry limeaids,  & tater tots there. I mean is that not the best fast food? I don't even like sauerkraut or mustard, but I find myself getting the NY Dog which has both. I am having pregnancy cravings and I'm not even prego. But doesn't it just feel SO great when you crave a food and you can actually get your hands on it!? Well, my inner fatty girl is satisfied.

Cardinal Hall of fame Cafe

Just in case you were considering getting a job here DON'T!! In other news, I worked on my dissertation somewhat successfully today...that was good. I have been getting really into crafting lately also. Looking at wedding stuff and being poor facilitates this because I always think "I could make that myself." I am trying to find a way to make $$ off of crafty stuff...money is good. Well, after the long weekend, I get a short week. That makes it even better. hope to have more exciting news/posts soon.

I've tried cooking at home more this week. Pretty much chicken everyday, but hoping to save some moola and my arteries. Also, I started doing some yoga and pilates...super sore but I definitely need to keep up with it cause it wakes my ass up. Yay for health.

Wedding dress

I ordered my wedding gown yesterday. This made me so nervous. I am hoping I don't regret my choice in 9 months when its too late to change my mind. I didn't cry when I put it on and the lady at the store actually suggested the one I chose. Some may disagree, but its really just a dress. Do I really need to cry? I love it though and it makes me feel pretty, so I went for it. Now to wait about 5ish months til it comes in...

funny girls

My nieces are so dang cute. I wanna remember the funny things they do. First off, Ava recently fell in love with seeing the moon during the day. She'll look up and see it and say, "Yook Mommy! Da moon!!" and grin really big. She gets so excited, now everytime I see the moon I think of that. Now Katie being herself is a bit more risque. She loves to talk about boos. So, the other day in the pool, of course they are playing like one of them is a shark. Katie yells, "I'm a shark with boobies, a shark with boobies!!" over and over. She is hilarious. She also smoked pretzel cigarettes that day. Hopefully she's getting it all out before she turns 16 :)

quals on spring break

I found this picture. I took this while working on my qualifying exam while on spring break. Kinda reminds me how much I thought it sucked then, but now I have passed it. :) I am hoping one day dissertation will be over and I will look at it like it was so easy....

Motivation

These days, my motivation has been very low. This summer I am finding myself with some spare time that should be ripe for dissertation, report writing, etc. I find myself procrastinating to the fullest. Why!? Shouldn't I want to get this stuff out of the way? I am going to have a crazy busy year with moving, wedding, 2 practica, classes, internship apps, dissertation, ayayay! I guess this means I should get up out of bed now (at 10am) and be productive. Ugh.

first time at el nopal

So this is completely not school related but I had a great night. Got to hang with my favorite 4 girls (guess who), saw my dads new place, ran by moms, and then...my first time at el nopal! I have heard about the Mexican greatness there and I have to say my quesadilla roja was amazing. Thanks to my aunt sheree for taking me there. She rocks. And now, although I should be report writing or something, I'm lounging in bed. Might even go to sleep early tonight. Love this feeling. :)

results

So, I didn't update the day of quals...but I passed! I really thought I failed the whole dang time. I was sure of it. My sister was so nice, she got me flowers and a balloon to congratulate me and we went to Cracker Barrel. An egg sandwich and hasbrown casserole was the perfect celebration :)

oral quals

Its the night before and I'm extremely nervous. Stomach in knots. Thank goodness for Lydia talkin me through my own rambling mind and Eric rubbin my belly. I want to get this OVER with. I hope I dont blank out and they discover I'm a fraud who doesn't know anything...that would be unfortunate. I need to sleep now. Update to follow tomorrow...sheesh

summer?

It's May 16th. I have started my summer classes. It's supposedly "summer" now. But how come its 50 degrees out and I need to worry about school more now than earlier in the year. I guess thats how it goes as you get older. But I had a great weekend. Dinner with OMOS girls Friday and Villebilles show, Engagemtn party Saturday and got to hang with the Blakely's (hilarious). Sunday = hangin with some wild animals (Savannah & Lily)...and tigers etc, then family dinner for Bacci1 and Allison's birthdays. So now Monday has arrived and I remember I have to take my oral qualifying exam this Friday...better get to studying ;)
